Community Wardens

This qualification is designed for community wardens, neighbourhood wardens and street wardens and will allow you to demonstrate that you have the skills and knowledge to do the job. Areas covered by this City & Guilds NVQ are: supporting community needs; developing customer relationships; and receiving and providing information within the community.

Candidates must successfully complete a total of eight units in all.
Candidates must achieve all units from Group A and two units from Group B.


Group A
Mandatory Units:

Candidates must achieve all of the following units:
  • 001 Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health & safety
  • 002 Plan, organise and improve your work
  • 003 Contribute to maintaining safe and secure community environments
  • 004 Develop customer relationships
  • 005 Receive and provide information within the community
  • 006 Support community needs

Group B
Optional Units:

Candidates must achieve at least two of the following units:
  • 007 Maintain the physical environment of estates
  • 008 Control the use of resources
  • 009 Maintain observation of parking areas
  • 010 Identify and respond to breaches in parking regulations
  • 011 Maintain and use databases
  • 012 Produce documents using word processing software
  • 013 Support the work of your team
  • 014 Minimise and deal with aggressive behaviour
  • 015 Provide witness statements of breaches of law and regulations
  • 016 Produce documents manually
  • 017 Communicate information using mobile voice communication equipment
