An accredited person is a person employed by an organisation (other than a police force) in a community safety role, who has been accredited by a Chief Officer of Police under section 41 of the Police Reform Act 2002. A wide range of people are eligible to be accredited under a Community Safety Accreditation Scheme. This may include neighbourhood wardens, security guards, park rangers, housing association employees and parking attendants. Before someone can become an accredited person, they need to have undergone a course of traning and achieved a qualification that meets the requirements laid down by the Skills for Security in its "Specification for the Learning Programme and Qualification for Accredited Persons under Community Safety Accreditation Schemes". This qualification is based upon that specification and so candidates achieving it will meet that requirement.
