Driving Goods Vehicles

Who is this NVQ for ? … This qualification is for goods vehicle drivers who can show the minimum level of occupational competence required for a goods vehicle driver. This competence is more than that required by the relevant statutory driving test, as it requires driving skills to be shown whilst driving a goods vehicle that is laden with the candidate's typical load

Mandatory Units

The candidate is required to complete all seven mandatory units.
  • Unit DGV10: Driving the vehicle on public roads
  • Unit DGV11: Driving the vehicle in restricted spaces
  • Unit DGV04: Monitoring the loading of the vehicle by others
  • Unit DGV06: Completing pre-driving preparations
  • Unit DGV07: Maintaining the safety and security of the load, self and property
  • Unit DGV08: Maintaining awareness of driving conditions
  • Unit DGV09: Operating the vehicle systems

Optional Units

  • Unit DGV12: Coupling and uncoupling the vehicle
  • Unit DGV05: Unloading the vehicle

Unit Combinations

To gain the full NVQ all seven mandatory units must be achieved. Candidates may complete additional units but these are not a requirement for the award.
