NVQ in Controlling Parking Areas (Barrier and Pay Station Control)

The Edexcel Level 2 NVQ in Controlling Parking Areas recognises the skills, knowledge and
understanding of candidates and allows them to gain a qualification in the workplace that relates
to their job area and promotes good working practice.
The standards on which these NVQs are based have been developed by SITO, the Standard
Setting Body for this industrial sector.
The NVQ is designed to be assessed in the workplace, for example:
• a training provider
• an industry-based training operation.
The preferred method for collection of evidence for occupational competence is through
naturally-occurring work activities. However, simulation is permitted for certain conditions,
which are detailed in the Assessment strategy in Section 5.

Who is it for?

The NVQ in Controlling Parking Areas is presently available at Level 2. The Edexcel Level 2
NVQ in Controlling Parking Areas aims to allow individuals working in parking control to
prove their competence in their day to day work. The NVQ will provide transferable skills and
knowledge progression, including those specific to the many opportunities that exist within
parking control, as well as generic skills and knowledge which relate to a wider range of
training and employment opportunities.
